Preparing to play on turf is never easy and to get ready for Saturday's clash against Seattle Sounders FC, the LA Galaxy are taking every precaution to deal with the punishing CenturyLink Field turf.
The Galaxy trained on grass at Seattle University to minimize the physical stress the players' endure when playing on an artificial surface.
Ahead of Saturday's game, Director of Sports Performance Pierre Barrieu spoke about the necessities of preparing for turf.
"Because we decided to minimize the impact joints and muscles, we decided to train on grass. We don't make it a big deal and we just decide to prepare for turf the same way that we prepare for grass. The difference being that if we do train on turf, we can anticipate the bounces and the spins of the ball. However, we're treating it as just another game." - Barrieu.
The players' equipment must be in top shape to counter the blisters that occur on a turf field.
